Driving to DC

This morning Dad got ready for work while Mom was going to get the rental car and pack up to be ready to go when he got home. But while Dad was out warming up his car Mom hurried down the stairs and with it being dark downstairs she forgot about the old wire shelves we pulled out of our closet. She came around the corner and tripped. She fell down on her knee and leg. Her knew was injured and she is bruised on more than a few place son her leg. What a clutz!!

So Dad left for work and Mom laid down elevating her leg. But she couldn't do it for too long because she had to pick up the rental and get things ready for our trip.

We picked up the rental and it was a tan van, Chrysler Town & Country. The kids were so happy tell Mom it was the best car ever. There was a TV in the roof of the car. It was so cold though that the doors were frozen shut. The kids had to climb through the front seats.

We packed up and Dad got home around 11:00 and we left within an hour. Getting this van made Mom really miss our old van. While traveling we stopped at Subway and got lunch. Then we arrived at our hotel
around 6:00 pm. We hit a little traffic from car accidents and took a little detour. But we went to the wrong Residence Inn. So once we checked into the right hotel everyone was hungry. We were going to meet up with family but everyone was busy or just staying in for the night.

One we all changed, we went around the hotel to see the pool and then went out in celebration of Mom getting her new job! Earlier today Mom got called back from the owner at Great Clips and she got the job. They are going to start out with part time hours about 20 hours a week and work into 30 hours a week to become the salon manager.

We walked and realized how much colder it was here. We were bundled up but it was pretty cold. We found a fun restaurant & grill restaurant called The Daily Post. It was really good food and the service was amazing! The kids even ate really good and that makes it worth it when you go out to eat as a family. It was freezing walking home and the women had on the wrong shoes. So by the time we got back to the hotel Mom's knee was super swollen. She got a cold washcloth and elevated her leg while Dad watched football with the boys. The girls watched something on their own tv in the bedroom and we all went to sleep about around 12:30 am.

Tomorrow we will do some sight seeing with family before we go to the wedding.
