The Wedding

We woke up this morning and Dad headed to workout while Mom took the kids downstairs for breakfast. There was a lot of choices and most of the kids picked cereal, go figure! Once we ate breakfast the pool was opening up. So Mom took the kids down to the pool for about 30 minutes while Dad took a shower and ate breakfast himself.

We left the hotel about 11:00 and walked down to the Metro (subway). It was cold but the walk was about 15 minutes. We got tickets and just missed it so we had to wait for 20 minutes until the next train came. The kids loved riding and said that next time they wanted to stand up by holding the bars.

We got off by the Washington monument. It was a little walk until we got there but it was neat seeing all the buildings. The kids were so excited when they saw a squirrel hiding under a tree eating a nut. They had to have a picture. Mom was so happy when we finally got to the monument and seeing the capital on the other side. What an amazing sight!

We then met up with Tom & Sue. We said and Hi and the kids all gave hugs. But Kaitlyn & Brayden had to to go potty so Mom quickly (as fast as she could with her leg) ran them to the museum to find the restroom.

Inside the National History Museum we met up with Aunt Lisa and her husband Bob and their granddaughter (who Staci played with when they were three in San Diego, this was the last time we saw them).

We saw the dinosaurs first, then to the Ice Age and last was the Ocean Life. But the kids were getting very hungry. We decided to get something to eat at the Cafe there. Mom was helping Kaitlyn with her coat when we turned around and everyone was gone. We didn't know where they were. But after searching for the cafe we found them. Then they had to find Tom who was upstairs looking for us. Xander had to go potty now and Brayden was getting tired plus being hungry. I am sure we were a sight to see with tears and screaming we finally got our food and made it to the tables. Brayden almost fell asleep but was able to eat something.

We wanted to take the kids to see the Aerospace museum but we ran out of time and had to head back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding.

We all hurried and got changed over for the wedding. We looked into just taking a cab but they said we would have to take two since the driver can't have more than 4 people in the car at a time. So then Dad looked into a limo service but that was way to expensive. So it was back tot he subway. Luckily the subway was a little packed so the kids got to stand up most of the way.

We got off what we thought was closest to the wedding venue. But to our surprise we had about ten blocks to walk. It let us off in a not so good part of town that even Paul thought we better walk fast and stay close to each other. But we finally made it and it was a beautiful building! Although we got there right when they were exchanging their vows so we missed most of the ceremony. His cousin Theresa looked beautiful in her dress. Then we took a few pictures with all the family. This was the first time the whole family has been together in about 30 years. So we were so glad we could come and see everyone!

The reception was so fun and the kids loved dancing all around!! Dad enjoyed visiting with his cousins. It was such a great night visiting and talking with everyone! Xander had a blast laughing and playing with Curt. Brayden latched onto Joe's daughters. Kaitlyn stayed glued to her uncle Tom and Joe and Aunt Sue. The food was very yummy and we laughed all night! They even had delicious homemade cheesecake at the end for dessert. We are so blessed that we were able to make it!!

Thanks to Tom for getting a cab that would fit our whole family we didn't have to walk back to the subway. We were tired by the time we got back to the hotel. Everyone pretty much went right to sleep!

Learning to Hula

Today was a big day for Kaitlyn. We registered her for Kindergarten. It didn't quite go as planned for Mom though. We all got up early with Staci and took her to school. Then we got in line for the registration. Mom was feeling pretty good because we were like 12th one there. But as we waited for 45 minutes and got up to the front of the line they wouldn't put Kaitlyn's name on the list because we didn't have prove of our address. Mom wasn't aware that we needed it since we already have one child at the school and they should have this on file. They said they could give her the paperwork but that she couldn't be added to the list until they can verify where we live. Mom had to go home. She was furious and hoped that we could still get Kaitlyn into this school. Here in Pocatello they have open enrollment so you can take your kids where ever you want. This doesn't make any sense why it matters where you live then anyways but Mom hurried as quickly as she could...

Helpers in the Kitchen

Each night a different one of my children helps me make dinner. I have done this for awhile but have finally figured out the way to make it easier on myself. i get everything prepared ahead of time in little bowls just like they do on the Food Network. This way the kids just mix the ingredients in an easy way without having to measure stuff and the clean up is so much easier. I just tell them how much everything is as we are putting it together. Well tonight I made something super easy but it has the restaurant style look to it from a Pillsbury Cookbook (one of those small ones that are always by the register that my husband and I have a ton of because we pick them up all the time when we are out and about). I think my husband will be shocked, at least I hope he is... Monster Trucks

This morning the kids all slept in but we had to get them going since today was going to be a busy day. We made pancakes & eggs for breakfast. After we ate it was time for Staci to say good bye to Cami & take her home. They had a fun sleepover although Staci has been one onwry girl every since. So it will be a few weeks before she can have another sleep over, that is for sure. We left to go and get Dad's new toy, a new BBQ grill. We got it at Costco for a little more money than Mom had originally thought when Dad started searching a few months ago. But this grill has everything; an oven, ice box, a searing station, griddle and more. It is everything Dad wants in a BBQ. But now Dad can do all the big cooking outside and not use up the kitchen for the big dinners that he puts on for people. Dad is a great cook and Mom's know this will get plenty of use. Well we got home and then had to get Xander changed to be ready for his big game. It was his first t-ball game today and...
