Summer Craft

Today was our summer movie day. We saw Walking with Dinosaurs and it was pretty good. Xander had a moment that Mom didn't think we would get past. She didn't give the kids their own tickets. So she had Xander help her with the popcorn and drinks. It kind of helped but he kept talking about how he wanted to give the tickets to the guy. Then he wanted candy and that is not what is included with the movie tickets. It took him until after the movie started to calm down. The movie did scare Brayden a little. He was shaking and jumped a lot. But afterwards they were talking about the funny parts of the movie.


After we got home we had lunch and then the kids all had quiet time. Then Mom did the kids first summer craft, a Rock Garden. The kids picked out 8 different colors and painted their small rocks. Then Mom took her hot glue gun and after helping the kids add eyeballs to their rocks she glued them onto their bigger rocks. We ended up calling them a Rock Party instead. This activity reminded Mom of girls camp growing up. She made them one year with her Mom and she told the kids all about it.

Dad even thought they turned out cute! Dad got home from work and slaved away outside creating walls for our carport. He was so sore from digging trenches and moving these heavy pressure treated logs. But it will look so nice when he is all done with it.

Learning to Hula

Today was a big day for Kaitlyn. We registered her for Kindergarten. It didn't quite go as planned for Mom though. We all got up early with Staci and took her to school. Then we got in line for the registration. Mom was feeling pretty good because we were like 12th one there. But as we waited for 45 minutes and got up to the front of the line they wouldn't put Kaitlyn's name on the list because we didn't have prove of our address. Mom wasn't aware that we needed it since we already have one child at the school and they should have this on file. They said they could give her the paperwork but that she couldn't be added to the list until they can verify where we live. Mom had to go home. She was furious and hoped that we could still get Kaitlyn into this school. Here in Pocatello they have open enrollment so you can take your kids where ever you want. This doesn't make any sense why it matters where you live then anyways but Mom hurried as quickly as she could...

Helpers in the Kitchen

Each night a different one of my children helps me make dinner. I have done this for awhile but have finally figured out the way to make it easier on myself. i get everything prepared ahead of time in little bowls just like they do on the Food Network. This way the kids just mix the ingredients in an easy way without having to measure stuff and the clean up is so much easier. I just tell them how much everything is as we are putting it together. Well tonight I made something super easy but it has the restaurant style look to it from a Pillsbury Cookbook (one of those small ones that are always by the register that my husband and I have a ton of because we pick them up all the time when we are out and about). I think my husband will be shocked, at least I hope he is... Monster Trucks

This morning the kids all slept in but we had to get them going since today was going to be a busy day. We made pancakes & eggs for breakfast. After we ate it was time for Staci to say good bye to Cami & take her home. They had a fun sleepover although Staci has been one onwry girl every since. So it will be a few weeks before she can have another sleep over, that is for sure. We left to go and get Dad's new toy, a new BBQ grill. We got it at Costco for a little more money than Mom had originally thought when Dad started searching a few months ago. But this grill has everything; an oven, ice box, a searing station, griddle and more. It is everything Dad wants in a BBQ. But now Dad can do all the big cooking outside and not use up the kitchen for the big dinners that he puts on for people. Dad is a great cook and Mom's know this will get plenty of use.
