ER with Xander

Tonight as we put the kids to bed Kaitlyn & Xander stayed up playing. We had to tell them to go to bed many times. Finally Kaitlyn was screaming again for us to come in. Mom told her to just go to bed but thought she would check anyways. Kaitlyn told us that Xander put cereal up his nose. We checked and didn't see anything and Xander had said no. Plus there is no cereal in their room. We got mad at the kids and told them to go to sleep. But then Xander started sneezing. Mom went in to check on him and both of them kept saying, " it was orange, it is orange."

Xander was acting funny and so Mom pulled him out of the room to make sure he really didn't stick anything up his nose. Once we got out the flashlight we could definitely see something up there on both sides.

Mom was worried about him sleeping with these things up his nose and we could tell what it was. We apologized to the kids and tried to get it out ourselves but no luck.

Mom them hopped in the car and rushed to the ER. Xander was acting totally normal but just sneezed funny sometimes. After our vitals they took us back in between everyone else's vitals trying to get it out. They had Mom blow into his mouth while they pushed one nostril closed. That didn't really work and Mom couldn't do it very well. They did get a small piece out of one nostril that was twice the size of a grain of rice.

We waited and waited and finally saw the doctor because the other one was really far up there. They even thought they would have to call the ears, nose and throat doc. Xander did fall asleep about an hour before the doctor took a look. Trying to get him to wake up was kind of interesting. He was out cold. When he woke up there was three people holding him down and the doctor had the light and tweezers up his nose. He was not a happy boy. It took a lot of trying but they finally got it out. It was the size of an adult thumb nail. Mom couldn't believe he had gotten that up his nose. At first they thought it was a crayon but them decided it wasn't and couldn't tell exactly what it was.

When Mom got home 4 1/2 hours later she found a tiny piece under his bed. It was an orange eraser that had been broken into pieces. Thank goodness he was okay but Mom and Dad were exhausted and got to sleep just before 2:00 in the morning. What a night!
