This morning the kids all slept in but we had to get them going since today was going to be a busy day. We made pancakes & eggs for breakfast. After we ate it was time for Staci to say good bye to Cami & take her home. They had a fun sleepover although Staci has been one onwry girl every since. So it will be a few weeks before she can have another sleep over, that is for sure.
We left to go and get Dad's new toy, a new BBQ grill. We got it at Costco for a little more money than Mom had originally thought when Dad started searching a few months ago. But this grill has everything; an oven, ice box, a searing station, griddle and more. It is everything Dad wants in a BBQ. But now Dad can do all the big cooking outside and not use up the kitchen for the big dinners that he puts on for people. Dad is a great cook and Mom's know this will get plenty of use.
Well we got home and then had to get Xander changed to be ready for his big game. It was his first t-ball game today and he ended up playing a team we know. On his soccer team he made friends with a little boy named Carter and now his Dad is coaching his team. So that is who we played. Xander was so cute and was the last to hit. They do coaches pitch, which Xander tried but never hit one. After three tries you just hit it off the tee. Then on the last batter they get a home run and all the kids run in. He played short stop and then 1st base the second inning. He was good and even ran when the ball came. His Dad was out there with him helping him out while Mom sat in the tent with the other kids taking pictures and cheering him on. He would run to the base and wait for them to throw the ball to him but most of the kids were trying to figure out just how to play this game, including Xander. So they never did throw it to him on 1st; maybe next time.
When we got home Dad enlisted some help from the Bakes to move his grill into the backyard. Tom and his two teenage boys helped and it took all four of them to carry this thing into the back yard. It is a massive grill. By this point Dad could hardly move. He woke up with a stiff neck and sore back and this didn't help. But he had to head over to the Holt Arena for the tuff truck challenge.
Mom helped the kids all make a poster to cheer Dad on for the monster truck show. Dad was entering into the tuff truck competition. When he arrived Dad felt like he was in redneck valley. They couldn't believe that Dad was entering his jeep in the competition. Dad just kept thinking it was a tough jeep. He was excited but nervous since he had never jumped it before.
Dad called and said he needed us to bring him a few things. So we dropped the things off to him and then got dinner at McDonalds before the show started. We were over an hour early. But the kids made the best of their time. They were having monster truck rides before the show at $20 a head so we did NOT do that, even though the kids asked more than once to ride in it.
Mom was a little dissapointed in our seat though. Yes we were on the 6th row which wasn't bad, but we were on the backside and the tuff truck challenge was on the other side of the arena. So most of the track was covered in the bigger hills for the monster trucks. Dad got two runs. They started on a hill and then went through a little mud run and last jumped over a jump with a car in the middle. That is the part that we couldn't see. When you see the video you will understand. But it was still so fun watching Dad do this and he had a blast. He will probably do it again next year and we will just get better seats then. Dad did great with a first run time of 7.46 seconds. They never said the second time and never did announce the winners either. But compared to the other times he was in the top of the pack time wise. The winner got $150 and a trophy. So if we get a call we will know that he got in the top 3 trucks.
The kids all did better this year with the noise since we brough ear muffs instead of the ear plugs. Although Brayden would get a little freaked out at times. He was so interested in the noise but as the trucks drove closer to us he would get closer and closer to Mom. As the trucks would turn around and be facing us he tried to climb up Mom's neck. That was a little scary for him. But then at other times he would have his arms in the air cheering them on.
We left a little early & got home at 11:30 pm. The kids pretty much fell asleep as soon as they laid down. But Dad was already home in the back. He was taking our one of the benches on our patio to make room for his new baby, the BBQ grill. It is a little bigger than the spot but will work for now.
