We started our trek this morning on our journey to Utah on vacation for a month. We said goodbye to Dad and Trigger, packed and were headed out. The kids did pretty good and loved all the surprises Mom had packed for them.
This vacation she decided to do the goodies wrapped in tin foil again. We have done it in past traveling trips and the kids seemed to enjoy the surprise inside. We also added colored clips. When you were whiny, arguing or not being nice you got your clip taken down off the sunvizer. If it wasn't there when we got our next surprise you had to wait until the next one. The only lost them a few times.
We had just a few detours. Mom was talking to Uncle Jason and missed her turn onto the 95 so we were headed towards Needles. So we had to drive 6 miles ahead before we could turn around. Mom always drives on cruise control but when we were in Searchlight there was someone going super slow (under speed limit). This time Mom was on the phone with Aunt Heather (for only a few minutes) and Mom looked down and realized she was going 90 MPH. So she immediately slowed down but sure enough there was a cop. He was nice but the kids were kind of scared! It was their first time being in the car with a cop coming. He was very nice about what had happened and when Mom apologized and explained that it is sad because the one time she took of it of cruise control is when she got going too fast. He just replied, "Yes you were cruising". Luckily he only cited her for 10 over instead of 16!!
Then once we got the canyon just before St. George Mom was talking to Dad and lost signal and then shortly after that realized that her phone was very low on battery. She stuck it on the charger and then Grandpa called. We made it off the freeway and then the phone shut off. We had no idea how to get to our friends house (Rammell Family). They just moved there from Pocatello and were kind enough to let us stop there for the night. Mom knew the street name but it was a newer subdivision. We had to wait for the phone to get to 10% charged. So we drove around looking for that street name and found many funny names for streets. Mom thought what about Staci's phone but hers was dead as well. Then she thought of her car GPS system but the maps were outdated. We waited and waited. Finally the phone was at 10% so we turned it on and made it almost to their neighborhood (we are talking less than 5 minutes away) and the phone shut off again. CRAPPY! is what we were all thinking. The kids were so tired of being in the car and the sad part is that we had to way of calling our friends since their numbers were on our phones. Technology stinks!! So we waited and waited again. Finally we found there house an hour and half later.
Her girls were ready in their swimsuits to go swimming. They gave us a quick sandwich for dinner and we followed them over to the rec center. The kids were loving the pool and especially loving the time spent with their friends.
When we got home the kids didn't want to go to bed. We ate watermelon and the kids got their energy out. The girls ended up sleeping on the trampoline outside and went to bed after midnight while the boys went to bed just before midnight with Mom inside.
Thank you Rammell family for making is such a great visit!!!
