The kids woke up just after 8:00 this morning. They came in to wake us up and then ran downstairs. They all noticed the tree first with their spiders and all the tinsel that came with their spiders' webs. Staci was the first to notice the pickle so she was going to get the special gift left from Santa Claus. These traditions of our tree help our kids to not rush to see what Santa brought but help them notice the magic in Christmas.
We opened up presents and then had our cereals for breakfast. Even the dogs got their stockings stuffed this year with toys and a new bone.
Mom wasn't feeling well so she laid down most of the day while Dad worked in the kitchen cleaning and cooking. The kids were great and helped Dad out. Then they all played games together and Dad even played Bugopoly with Xander. They played the full version until Xander went bankrupt and Dad won.
Dad made a very delicious ham dinner with mashed potatoes, creamy vegetables, and stuffing. While Mom was able to stand without being dizzy she mader her dessert of strawberry cheesecake. Dad invited a Marine over, who's family is back home for a few months, so he wouldn't have to spend the holiday alone.
After we cleaned up we took down the Christmas tree. The kids were so excited to vacuum up all the pine needles. Mom forgot about the water in the bottom and when we tipped it over to unhook our tree stand water went everywhere. Luckily it soaked right up but it was still a mess. Kaitlyn & Xander took turns using the vacuum and tomorrow we will put all the decorations away.
Then we all watched Over the Hedge and Dad took a little nap. Mom was finally feeling a little better and started updating pictures on our family website before going to bed. We had a wonderful Christmas and really hope the kids remembered the true meaning of Christmas with our Savior's love for each of us.
